SENIOR BAND

AUDITION PROCEDURE

  • Detailed description of audition procedures can be found on this website.  Click on “Division Info” and then click on “Procedures—Winds/Percussion.” You can also find the required etudes and the IMEA scale sheets on this page.
  • Students may not audition on non-standard instruments such as mellophone, marching baritone, or any others that are not traditionally called upon in contemporary literature. The sousaphone will be permitted as an alternate for audition purposes only. If the student is selected to the district or state festival it becomes the responsibility of the school to provide a concert tuba for festival performance.

AUDITION PROCEDURE

This year the pitches for the audition material will be played on a CD rather than a keyboard. Students must prepare all pieces for auditions. Both the All-State and the district selections.
  • Tonal Skills sheet can also be found on the same page mentioned above.  Please download.
  • We need two judges per voice part. Please contact Leslie if you are interested in judging.

All-State Required Repertoire (Prepare BOTH for auditions):

  • Alice in Wonderland, SATB, arr. Paris Rutherford

Both pieces are available through Kidder, Shattinger or The Music Shoppe. The Landig piece is also available at landigmusic.com.

District Selections: will be mailed after the ensemble has been chosen.

OTHER INFORMATION

  • There will be a vocal jazz audition workshop for students on Thursday, September 9. The location and times will be announced at a later date. Please contact Sara or Chris in the fall for more information.
  • All Jazz Band and Vocal Jazz Directors: Please check the box for jazz band or vocal jazz on your RNS System profile when you register, even if you don't currently do jazz.  This way you will get informational emails from the Representatives.
