IMEA STUDENT CONDUCT POLICY

To: Directors and Chaperones of All-State Students
From: IMEA Board of Directors

The issue of “serious infraction of rules of conduct” has been covered sufficiently; and, we believe, clearly understood. We all know what “serious” means, but the issue of “minor” infractions, e.g. failure to observe curfew or inappropriate behavior, needs to be addressed also. We’re sure that administrators and parents expect the rules to be not only observed by the students, but also enforced by the authorities (IMEA officials AND YOU are the authorities). Obviously, IMEA cannot be in all areas of all hotels after curfew, and so we ask that you make a concerted effort, for the well-being of your students, to exert a tight reign over the observance of curfew. Most of us have heard all the usual excuses, e.g. “we were just talking” or “I had to borrow some shampoo” or ad infinitum--but, conceivably, potentially damaging and serious situations could develop as a result of these “innocent” transgressions.

Even the appearance of impropriety is cause for concern and places in jeopardy the IMEA All-State long standing tradition of outstanding student behavior and discipline.

Students should be informed that a letter of reprimand will be sent to the school administrator should any of the afore mentioned infractions be observed or reported. Actions deemed illegal will be forwarded to local law enforcement officials for appropriate action.
