2016  Student Emergency Contact Form (29.4 KB)  - Each school must have this form filled out for every student in attendance at the festival. Print out a hard copy and bring this to the festival.

2016  Student Lunch Forms 2016 (31.9 KB)

2016  ilmea_directors_luncheon_2016.pdf (19.3 KB)

DeKalb High School Map 2015 (130.5 KB)

DeKalb High School Map 2016 (Orchestra Year) (108.3 KB)

DeKalb HS Parking Map (319.4 KB)  - Do not take buses on the circle drive in front of the school to drop off students. It is very tight and buses will not be able to turn sharp enough to navigate through the driveway. The circle drive is for cars only. There is a bus lot on the east entrance. There is signage to help and the map will help you navigate the parking and bus drop-off.

This year's Jr/Sr Festival will be held at DeKalb High School. There are some minor changes to the schedule as we continue to evolve and adjust to make better use of our space and time at DHS. Lunch for all ensembles is fifty minutes. If you choose to go out to lunch rather than pre-ordering with the enclosed form, you risk being late for rehearsal and excluding your students from being selected for future ensembles, including All-State.

DeKalb High School is located at 501 W. Dresser - From I-88, exit Annie Glidden and turn north to Dresser. Turn right on Dresser and the school is on the left. Main parking will be in front of the building. Buses will need to drop students off in front (DO NOT enter circle drive with a bus), and then follow signs to the bus parking area. (see downloadable map above) Buses will not be allowed to park in the fron lot as that entire lot will be needed for concert parking.

Location of rehearsals and concerts for the Junior/Senior Festival on November 19 – Senior Band – DeKalb High School Field House, Junior Band – DeKalb High School Competition Gym, Senior Choir – DeKalb High School Band Room, Junior Mixed Choir – DeKalb High School Choir Room, Junior Treble Choir – DeKalb High School Dance Studio, Sr. Orchestra - DeKalb High School Auditorium, Jr. Strings - DeKalb High School Orchestra Room.

Student Meal Reservations - you must pre-register for lunch. Download form above. Forms were also sent to each participating school along with music.  There are no restaurants within walking diastance, and the closest place is about a 10 minute drive. Please support DeKalb's Music Boosters by encouraging your students to purchase lunch on campus. There is also a dinner option for before the Senior Division Concert.

Orchestra Winds Selection - In an effort to provide impartial selection for ensembles, the judges chose and assigned students to band and/or orchestra this year. They based their decisions on what they heard in the audition, and it is our goal to make both ensembles sound the best that they can sound. If you do not want your students to be selected for orchestra winds, then enter an "N" under orchestra instead of a number when submitting nominations. Since we share orchestra with District 2, some of our students have the unique opportunity to participate in both band and orchestra on the same year. As always, accepting an assignment in orchestra doubles your wind student's chances for All-State selection because they are entered into the selection pool for both band and orchestra. Band only students are only entered into the band selection pool. If you have students selected for District Orchestra 2015, please look over the schedules and information from District 2

STUDENT INFORMATION -

Please inform your students of the following information for the Junior/Senior Festival on November 19, 2016.

  1. Please bring all ILMEA parts sent with the mailing to the festival. All parts must be turned in at the conclusion of the concert. Bring a pencil.
  2. All Senior Chorus participants should be prepared to audition on the melody of the Star Spangled Banner. Typically, Soprano and Tenor voices start on "F" and Alto and Bass voices start on "Eb," but any starting pitch is acceptable.
  3. Instrumental participants should bring their OWN stand! Please have it marked with their name.
  4. Festival participants will be under your supervision for lunch and must pre-order their meal. Students may bring their own lunch or pre-order through the DHS Music Boosters. All food must be consumed in the cafeteria. Each group is allotted 50 minutes for lunch and the ensembles are on a staggered-release schedule.
  5. Senior Division Dinner - Senior level students have 1.5 hours between rehearsal and the concert. Some directors and families choose to go out at this time, and some release buses in the morning. For your convenience, DeKalb boosters will provide a dinner option. Please make sure to pre-order if you wish to eat at the high school.
  6. Please remind students to be on their best behavior at all times and to keep on schedule for all rehearsals and performances. Plan to arrive early enough in order to locate rehearsal areas. A late bus will disqualify all high school students from that school for All-State Selection.
  7. Dress for the day is casual. Dress for the concert is Dress-up. We want to project a mature and professional image to our audience and ourselves. Please respect the dress requirements of no jeans, shorts, t-shirts, sweatshirts, gym shoes, etc.
  8. Parents and family are encouraged to attend the concerts. Admission for the Jr/Sr Festival and Jazz Festival is $5.00 to each concert. Children 12 & under, senior citizens, and directors will be admitted free of charge.  The EGM festival concert is $3. Families are welcome to wait in line, but doors will not open until 15 minutes before the concert begins.
  9. Be well prepared on all music. In order to have the best possible day musically, it is imperative that each festival participant knows his/her music very well and has mastered it to the best of his/her ability.
  10. Important! Students ust be at all rehearsals in order to participate in the festival concert. Senior Division students must be present at all rehearsal and the festival concert in order to be eligible for All-State.
