Join ILMEA's Elementary General Music Division for a fun filled day of celebration! Created for students and teachers, up to five 4th or 5th grade students per school can be nominated to take part in the workshop as participants in a classroom set-up. Students will work with presenters in a day designed to show best practice in the elementary general music classroom. Students will be selected based on available space and number of teacher applicatins and must be accompanied by their teacher.
Teachers will observe and may occasionally be asked to assist. As music teachers in Illinois are being asked to approach new standards, this workshop will help teachers ease into the new process with confidence. Teachers will look at drafts of the National Core Arts Standards, which are scheduled for release in March of 2014 and discuss ways to implement them. Come learn new activities and gain renewd motivation for teaching.
Each school wishing to nominate students must complete and submit the ILMEA Participating School Form and $30 fee. Once selected, cost to attend is $20 per student. Students must be accompanied by a teacher. Teachers with selected students may attend at no cost. If a teacher does not wish to bring students, then a $40 individual registration fee will apply. Five CPDUs are available for the event and are free of charge for ILMEA members. Non-ILMEA members must pay a $6 fee for CPDUs.
