Keynote - Trends in music teacher evaluation
Orginially invited speaker, Milt Allen will not be able to join us in Peoria. The 2014 Keynote will now be presented by Doug Orzolek, Univeristy of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minnesota. Join us Thursday, 10:15-11:45 am in Civic Center Room 400 to hear the latest information on teacher evaluation from around the nation.
Douglas C. Orzolek, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Music Education, the Associate Director of Bands, and Assistant Chair of the Music Department at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. At St. Thomas, Dr. Orzolek teaches music education methods, conducts the Symphonic Band, and teaches musical acoustics, music literature and conducting. He also teaches core classes and advises theses in the UST graduate program. In Minnesota, Dr. Orzolek is Past-President of the Minnesota Music Educators Association and has served on the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Band Directors Association. He also served as the co-chair of MN Arts Standards Revision Committee as a result of an appointment from the Commissioner of Education. Nationally, he serves on the board of the Society for Music Teacher Educators, on the editorial board of Visions of Research in Music Education and several other music education related committees. Dr. Orzolek received the 2001 Mansfield University Young Alumni Award and was named to the Mansfield University Music Alumni Honor Roll. In 2003, the students of St. Thomas named him the Distinguished Educator of the Year. Dr. Orzolek earned the Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania, the Master of Education in Music Education from Penn State University and the Doctor of Philosophy in Music Education from the University of Minnesota.
