Election Information

Offices on the Ballot for Fall 2017

 

The following ILMEA offices are on the ballot in fall of 2017! Please click on the office title for information on the individual positions.

Interested candidates must be dues-paying ILMEA/NAfME Members. In addition, applicants for State President Elect must have prior ILMEA Board of Directors experience. The Candidate Information Form must be submitted by July 15.

State President Elect

Six year term (2 years as President Elect, 2 years as President, 2 years as Past President)

As presiding officer, the Association President is responsible for the leadership of the Association. The President shall plan and preside at all State meetings; preside at committees not otherwise provided for in the Bylaws; be a member of all committees; represent the Association as a member of the Executive Board of a NAfME Division and as a member of the National Assembly of NAfME. 

 

Music Teacher Education Division President Elect

Four year term (1 year as Division President Elect, 3 years as Division President)

The MTE Division President is responsible for representing all persons and organizations dealing primarily with the collegiate level of Music Teacher Education/preservice music educators; organizing and appointing Divisional Councils made up of music teacher education leaders from across the state; attending and participating in ILMEA Board of Directors meetings and other committee meetings as required; assisting in planning the Illinois Music Education Conference through selection of professional devleopment offerings and performances; attending the Illinois Music Education Conference and representing the Association to attendees; sharing general jurisdiction over, and responsibility for, the functions of the Association. 


Orchestra Division President Elect 

Four year term (1 year as Division President Elect, 3 years as Division President)

The Orchestra Division President is responsible for representing all persons and organizations dealing primarily with that division; planning for student orchestral ensembles at the State-level ; attending and participating in ILMEA Board of Directors meetings and other committee meetings as required; assisting in planning the Illinois Music Education Conference through selection of professional devleopment offerings and performances; attending the Illinois Music Education Conference and representing the Association to attendees; sharing general jurisdiction over, and responsibility for, the functions of the Association.

Four year term (1 year as District President Elect, 3 years as District President)

District Presidents are responsible for organizing and appointing District-level leadership; organizing District-level auditions, festivals and other programs for students and educators as required; attending and participating in ILMEA Board of Directors meetings and other committee meetings as required; attending the Illinois Music Education Conference and representing the Association to attendees; sharing general jurisdiction over, and responsibility for, the functions of the Association; communicating with District music educators and students on behalf of the Association.
