Sarah Catt became the choir director at Elk Grove High School in 2010. Her curricular responsibilities include Men's Choir, Women's Choir, Treble Choir, Concert Choir and Mint Condition Vocal Jazz. Co-curricular ensembles under her direction include Chamber Singers and Men's A cappella. She also serves as the vocal director for the school musical. The choirs at Elk Grove frequently work with guest clinicians and university choirs. Under her direction, the Elk Grove Vocal Jazz Ensemble was chosen to perform at the 2014 Illinois Music Education Conference and the 2014 Illinois American Choral Directors Association Conference. Mrs. Catt has served as a guest conductor for various honor ensembles including the Illinois Summer Youth Music Junior Chorus, the Illinois Music Education Association District 1 Junior Chorus, and the Illinois Music Education Association District 9 Vocal Jazz III Ensemble. She recently received an Award of Recognition from the Illinois State Board of Education in the 2015-2016 "Those Who Excel" education awards program.
Before coming to EG, Mrs. Catt was the choir director at Crone Middle School in Naperville, IL. She received her Bachelor of Music Education with an emphasis in choral and general music from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She was honored as the Most Outstanding Student in Music Education and graduated with highest honors. She also earned her Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University Chicago.
Mrs. Catt is an active member of the Illinois Music Educators Association (ILMEA), the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), and the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). She currently serves as an Illinois ACDA board member as the High School Repertoire and Standards Chair. Outside of her musical endeavors, Mrs. Catt enjoys spending time with her husband Brandon, who is the Director of Choirs at Glenbard East High School in Lombard, IL.

Students should prepare all selections for auditions in October.
Auditions will consist of 2 "prepared pieces" (1 of which will be Sicut Cervus OR Desh. The 2nd piece will be selected from the remaining pieces. This could also be the other All-State selection).
NEW THIS YEAR--the 2nd audition pieces will be released on Sunday, October 7th from Christopher via the State Office.
Auditions will also consist of 2 Scales, 3 triads, and 1 Sight Reading example.
As in previous years, all auditions will be Blind Auditions

Brandon Catt is Fine Arts Department Chair and Director of Choirs at Glenbard East. As Fine Arts Chair he oversees the Music, Visual Arts, and Speech Arts areas. Mr. Catt's teaching responsibilities include East’s numerous curricular and co-curricular choral ensembles and serving as Vocal Director for the musical. Since his arrival at East, Mr. Catt has reinstated the Ramparts, an elite group of singers which performs the National Anthem at various events throughout the community including East athletic contests. He is also the founder of the Voices of East choir, which is an initiative to involve students, teachers and community members outside of the music program in a positive and successful singing environment. In its inaugural season, the Voices of East had over 100 participants.
Before coming to East, Mr. Catt earned two Bachelor of Music Education degrees with highest honors (choral and general music) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While at Illinois, he was awarded the Theodore Presser Undergraduate Scholar Award and served as the State President for the Illinois Collegiate Music Educators Association (ICMEA). In addition to singing, Mr. Catt is also a percussionist and spent four years in the Marching Illini Drumline, where he later held an instructional appointment as the cymbal section technician. In 2007, Mr. Catt founded iDrum World Hand Drumming Workshops and lead summer music camps for youth and adults as a Visiting Lecturer at Lincoln Trail College in Robinson, IL.
Mr. Catt earned his Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University Chicago. He is currently pursuing a Master of Music Education degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 2013 & 2014, he was named a quarterfinalist in the Grammy Foundation's Music Educator Award. Mr. Catt is an active member of the Illinois Music Educators Association (ILMEA), serving as the District IX Choir Co-Representative, the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) and the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), serving as the Illinois Membership Co-Chair. His students have been selected for ILMEA District, All-State and Honors All-State Choirs as well as the ACDA State, Regional & National Honor Choirs. His teachers and mentors include Joe Grant, Ross Heise, Becky Miller, Fred Stoltzfus, Dawn Harris, Sam Reese, Johnny Lee Lane and Bob Boyd. He currently lives in Carol Stream with his wife Sarah, who is the Director of Choirs at Elk Grove High School.

TREBLE CHOIR SPECIFICS!
Students will audition the same as the mixed ensemble.
After the mixed ensemble has been selected, we will add approximately 32 students to the treble ensemble. Mixed ensemble numbers are determined by the tenor and bass auditioning numbers.
An email will be sent for you to indicate that you DO NOT want your students to participate in this ensemble.
Treble choir will perform in the Theatre
Part recordings will be made to aid in practicing for festival.
