FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I use credit card, check or PO when I become a member?
All three of these are possible in the ILMEA Membership Center, however only credit cards can be used for automatic renewal for active and retired members. To pay with a check or PO, please select the option to "Pay Offline" and then you can use your printed confirmation to submit to your school business officer to initiate payment. Please ensure that your confirmation be mailed in with your membership payment.


How will I get my new member number and information?
Once you've completed your member registration, please log in to the ILMEA Membership Portal - once you've logged in, then you'll be able to view and update your information as needed, view past and upcoming registrations associated with your email, and if you click on the "Memberships" tab, you'll see your member number and billing information.
*Please note that if you opt for the “Pay Offline” option you will not have access to your member account until your member fee has been received.


Will I get a member card for my ILMEA membership?
ILMEA will be using this Membership Center as the way for individuals to track and maintain membership. Member cards will not be issued for ILMEA members.


Does my school have a membership?
No, ILMEA membership is granted on an individual basis. This professional membership is separate from any participating school fees and student programs and performances.


When is my membership up for renewal?

ILMEA membership is an annual membership on an anniversary renewal schedule. Your membership is up for renewal one year from your Join Date.


What does the Industry Affiliate member level include?
When your organization or business becomes an Industry Affiliate of ILMEA, you will receive:
- Priority placement in the IMEC Exhibit Hall
- Recognition in the Fall Illinois Music Educator Journal

Recognition in the Illinois Music Education Conference Official Program
- 10% off of all advertising reservations
- One (1) complimentary digital ad placement in the bi-monthly e-newsletter from the ILMEA State Office

This member level is intended for a business, college/university or organization to become a member of ILMEA. Music professors and classroom music educators should still join at the Active member level to receive those member benefits.


How do I start a high school or collegiate chapter of ILMEA?
We are excited to announce the Illinois Music Honors Society for all Illinois high school music students and the Illinois Collegiate Music Education Association for pre-service music education students at 2-year and 4-year colleges and universities in Illinois.
